Zouzoulectric: Swing Meets the Studio

Some collaborations begin with a handshake. Zouzoulectric began with a concert.

In 2013, producer and musician Jürgen Kausemann, one of the founders of Chinchin Records, watched singer Nelly Simon perform with her band choo choo panini. The meeting grew into a studio and band project that sits between vintage jazz instinct and modern production.

Simon is a jazz singer and trained drama teacher. She fell for swing dance and jazz when she was very young, and you can hear it in her phrasing, which is playful, theatrical and always aware of the room. She also performs with Roman Babik, the pianist of Club des Belugas. Kausemann brings the producer's ear. He knows how to give an old rhythm a new electric current.

On Red Light Jazz Radio you'll hear that mix in "Shim Sham (VIP Mix)", named after a classic swing-dance routine, and in "Mr. Rain" and "Breath of a Dragon". Put them on when you want your jazz to move its feet.
